Job Skills Center

WELCOME TO THE JOB SKILLS CENTER

The Job Skills Center provides soft skills as well as vocational training for interns with moderate to severe disabilities. The main focus of the program is to promote soft skills education where students are taught to stay on task for extended periods of time, be punctual, demonstrate a good attitude, cooperate as well as collaborate with fellow workers, and complete assignments in a responsible and timely manner. Students are taught these soft skills using over 60 job related, real world tasks. Some examples are: assembling multi-step projects, weighing items using analog and digital scales, measuring using tape measures and rulers, cash register/money skills, computer input/output tasks, shredding documents using industrial shredders, computer repair and other tasks focused on enhancing work related abilities. The skills learned in this program will help students develop abilities that will increase their opportunities as they transition to other Miller CTC programs as well as outside employment upon graduation.

SHREDDING SERVICE

Please support our program by using our shredding service. We use industrial shredders and take every security measure to ensure your documents are disposed of in a secure manner. The materials are kept in a locked vault until they are ready to be shredded. After shredding the students then bag the shredded material and take the paper to a recycling center. All proceeds are used for upkeep of the machines and additional training materials for our students.  We have serviced locations such as El Camino Real HS, Kennedy HS, Mulholland MS, Northridge MS, and LAUSD; Beaudy Building, and Valley Chamber of Commerce and many others. For more information see the brochure below.
